BNP Paribas Personal Finance* is committed to the development of responsible lending. One sole objective: a continuous improvement in client satisfaction.
The approach of BNP Paribas Personal Finance* for Social Responsibility is based on 4 major dimensions:

1/ responsible lending

Because credit establishments cannot exist in the long term unless they give credit to persons able to keep up repayments, Cetelem and UCB are the first to fight against overindebtedness. As promoter of responsible lending, the company publishes indicators every year so that it can be judged on its actions: refusal rates, level of payment incidents, risk rate.UCB, as for him, proposes personalized mortgage loans, which perfectly meet the expectations and in the personal situation of the customers, and reassured(secured) thanks to put an upper limit monthly salaries.Considering that two thirds of overindebtedness are related to accidents of normal life (divorce, unemployment, illness…), it is all in Cetelem and UCB’s interest to establish dialogue as upstream as possible to find solutions and define a regularization plan.

Cetelem has also signed the agreement set up on amicable debt collection between ASF (French association of financial companies) and eleven consumer associations
(ADEIC, AFOC, CNAFC, CNAFAL, CSF, Familles de France, Familles Rurales, Léo-Lagrange, ORGECO, UFCS, UNAF).

Men and Women

2/ Diversity

Because diversity is a symbol of openness, a factor of creativity and a source of wealth, the company makes its human resources policy a priority. It is with this in mind that an action program has been launched, based around 4 major themes: diversity through male/female equality, diversity of origins, management of age and integration of disabilities. In November 2005, Cetelem was the first financial establishment to obtain the label “Égalité Professionnelle Femmes et Hommes” (Professional Equality of Men and Women), awarded by the Ministry for Social Cohesion.

This approach guides the human resources policy of the new BNP Paribas Personal Finance group.

Social Commitment

3/ Social Commitment through the Cetelem Foundation

Cetelem expresses its social commitment in 3 domains:

  • Microcredit, natural terrain for social commitment, notably with Crésus (Chambres RÉgionales du SUrendettement Social), Adie (Association pour le droit à l’Initiative Economique), and FACE (Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion)

  • Le mécénat de compétence: along with the Associations Adie, ATD Quart Monde, FACE, Secours Catholique, Secours Populaire Français, SNC (Solidarités Nouvelles face au Chômage), and with the active participation of Cetelem employees.

  • « Coup de pouce«: an operation to accompany employees’ extraprofessional solidarity initiatives.

4/ The Oxygène program

Conservation of the environment is one of the major issues at the beginning of the 21st century. The Oxygène program is a global approach, both internal and with clients, central to the strategy of BNP Paribas Personal Finance, and will be deployed in the long-term. This means we need to change our habits and orientate the choices of our clients. Cetelem is the 1st specialised credit establishment to openly commit to the environment. France is the pilot country of the program, with an expansion to other countries afterwards.
