An economic model unique in Europe

An economic model unique in Europe

When the company was created in France in 1953, there was a huge need for household appliances. At the time, stores only sold against cash payments, while buying a refrigerator represented several months in wages. With Cetelem, the commercial trademark of BNP Paribas Personal Finance in France, a unique economic model appeared in Europe: the tripartite relationship between the consumer, the retailer and Cetelem.

Since then, the company has continuously evolved to stay abreast of changes in society, together with the women and men who have been writing its story. It expanded abroad at the end of the 1980s to become BNP Paribas Personal Finance. Today, its proven experience, expertise and know-how spanning 60 years, have placed it at the forefront of major players.
Its partners are mass retailers such as But, Conforama in France, Media Markt and Media Saturne in Spain, Germany, Italy and Central and Eastern Europe, the FNAC in Portugal and e-merchants such as Mercado Libre in Latin America, Alza.cz in the Czech Republic, Submarino in Brazil.
